Villagers in Gaoling village in Fangshan district are expressing worry about their drinking water. Their groundwater contains too much thermonatrite, and the pumping station has never been used, the Beijing News reported.
According to village resident Xiao Hejing, the water they use comes from a big well, and the excessive thermonatrite could possibly be attributed to their local geography, as none of the neighboring villages have this problem.
Xiao said other villages' water pipes are connected to the municipal pipe network, while theirs is not. The pumping station built in 2009 has been lying unused and several water purifiers have been broken.
