Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region's public security authorities vowed to severely fight against religious extremist, the Beijing-based Legal Mirror reported on Sunday, adding that the authorities have seized a number of gangs and suspects since February 10.
Zhu Changjie, vice chairman of Xinjiang, urged public security authorities at all levels within the province in a special meeting on the importance and urgency of cracking down on religious extremist crime. Provincial authorities required local branches to make thorough investigations into terror attacks and religious extremists while strengthening their ability to deal with emergencies.
