Yao Mugen, vice-governor of East China's Jiangxi Province, is under investigation for suspected serious disciplinary and legal violations, China's discipline watchdog said on Saturday.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China released the news on its website.
Yao, 56, who became the vice-governor in January 2013, is in charge of water conservancy projects, lands and resources, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Yao may be targeted for corruption in water conservancy projects, the Beijing-based Legal Mirror reported on Sunday.
