Brunei's Sultan expresses condolence to Chinese over MH370

Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah sent separate messages of condolence to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Wednesday following the recent announcement that Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 had been lost in the southern Indian Ocean. [Special coverage]

In the messages, His Majesty said he is extremely saddened to hear the latest announcement made by Prime Minister Najib Razak during a press conference on Monday on the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

His Majesty said that the government and people of Brunei joined him in conveying their deepest condolences to the Chinese president and Malaysian prime minister, as well as the people and government of the People's Republic of China and Malaysia, especially to the bereaved families of the passengers onboard the flight.

In the message to the Malaysian prime minister, His Majesty said he was saddened to hear the latest development regarding the missing flight and believed that the Malaysian government, with the cooperation of the international community, has done its best in performing search and rescue operations.

The Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 vanished on March 8 on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board, including 154 Chinese national.
