An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter Scale hit Zigui County, central China's Hubei Province, at 12:24 a.m. (Beijing Time) Sunday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter was monitored at 30.9 degrees north latitude and 110.8 degrees east longitude with a depth of 5 kilometers, the center said.
No further information is available.
The earthquake came after a 4.3-magnitude tremor on Thursday hit the same area, which is about 30 km from the Three Gorge Dam, the country's largest multi-functional water control system.
Normal operation of the project was not affected after Thursday's quake.
