Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang on Saturday vowed to strengthen communication, coordination and cooperation with the United States in economic and trade areas.

Wang made the remarks when meeting with a US delegation headed by Paul Gewirtz, the director of Yale Law School's China Center.

Wang praised the development of China-US ties, noting that the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Barack Obama in Hague this week was of great significance to the building of a new-type of relationship between China and the US.

Xi and Obama held their first meeting this year on the sidelines of the two-day third Nuclear Security Summit in the Netherlands.

Wang called on the two sides to push forward the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.

Members of the US delegation included former US Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Stephen Hadley, former US Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg, and former U.S. Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky.
