A growing number of world fashion brands are embracing Chinese elements, especially silk embroidery, and China Fashion Week is no exception. For the first time in its history, the event is featuring a special exhibition dedicated to Chinese embroidery.
From portraits to landscapes, the exhibition consists of some 30 embroidered pieces selected from around the country. The works on display demonstrate a variety of styles, including singled-sided, double-sided, criss-cross and cut silk embroidery. Computer printing technology has also been used to create photo-realistic pieces. China was the first country in the world to discover the use of silk, and the art of embroidery has developed ever since.
