Earthquakes hit Zigui county, Yichang, Hubei province, twice in the past three days, but the temblors did not affect the Three Gorges Water Project, Wuhan Morning News reported on Monday.
According to the Hubei Provincial Seismological Bureau, earthquakes of magnitude-4.3 and 4.7 were felt on March 27 and 30, and by noon on March 30, 330 aftershocks had been recorded.
The earthquakes and aftershocks did not affect the Three Gorges Dam although the location of the earthquakes was only some 20 km from the dam.
Both earthquakes occurred in the early morning and some local people ran out of their houses without any clothes. There were no injuries or deaths reported from the quakes.
