The European Commission on Tuesday proposed a new EU visa law, an un-named EU official told the Chinese Global Times, designed to simplify application procedures for people including Chinese citizens.
The law's main reforms include reducing the process time from 15 to 10 days, removing visa fees people under 18 and a new type of one-year Schengen visa, the paper reported.
From 2009 to 2013, the number of Chinese travellers to Europe has almost doubled. More than 1 million Chinese have applied for European business and vacation visas annually since 2011.
