No more formula vending machines

The infant formula vending machines that had been installed in pharmacies in the last five months will gradually be phased out due to low sales. Because they took up too much space and could not accept cash, they will be replaced with smaller display cases and more payment options will be made available, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

The milk-based formula will still be sold in pharmacies, but the product will be stored in stockrooms instead of in the vending machines. Customers can pay with cash and WeChat. However, the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and quick response (QR) codes will remain, so that customers can get detailed information about the individual brands of formula.
