A tower crane operator lifted the spirits of his fellow workers at a construction site when he used the massive machine to deliver lunch on April 1.

It took around 10 minutes for lunch to reach the group of hungry laborers working at the top of a 14-story building in Suining, Sichuan province.

Witnesses said the crane's hook was maneuvered directly in front of the noodle stall, on which fellow workers on the ground hung up four servings of hot and sour rice noodles packed in plastic bags.

Zheng Yong, a licensed crane operator of three years, said it was perfectly safe to use the crane for meal deliveries.

"I was hungry but so high up the building. It wouldn't be easy for me to go down and come back again," said Zheng, who is in his 20s.

A foreman at the site, however, explained that Zheng was in violation of numerous safety rules, and he was disciplined for the stunt.
