Eight children died and at least 10 others were injured when a bus carrying primary school students overturned in South China's Hainan province on Thursday morning.
The accident took place at 11 am in Wenchang city when the bus was returning home after an excusion, according to hinews.cn, a major Hainan-based news website.
Dozens of students from Xincai Primary School of Chengmai county traveled on the bus.
The accident has sparked renewed concerns about the safety of school buses following a series of accidents in recent years.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
