170m yuan boosts students innovation

According to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, more than 300,000 people participated in Beijing's college students innovation program between 2008 to 2013, and investment in the activities totaled 170 million yuan, the Beijing Daily reported.

The college students innovation program consists of two parts. The first component encompasses academic competitions for electronic designs, physics experiments and mock trials. The second component focuses on scientific research and entrepreneurial planning. Since 2008, approximately 137,000 students have participated in the latter; more than 6,000 projects have been funded by the commission.
