Traffic police intercepted a band of galloping horses as they headed toward downtown Yantai, Shandong province during morning rush hour on Tuesday.

Vehicles and pedestrians were seen dodging five horses as they dashed along Qingnian South Road.

The horses are also guilty of running a string of red lights.

Officers attempted to stand in their way, but the group of studs and fillies said "nay" and continued heading north.

It took traffic police a road block of squad cars to round up the herd before they reached downtown.

The animals' owner later told police they had escaped after being frightened by the sound of firecrackers.

Traffic resumed once the horses were transported back to their corral by truck.
