A driver in Haimen, Jiangsu province, drove a taxi into a river in morning fog due to failure of a GPS navigator on Monday, Modern Express reported.
The driver, surnamed Xu, had just bought the navigator for 200 yuan from an online store, was driving a female passenger to an unfamiliar county in heavy mist when the taxi went into the 10-meter-wide river.
The driver opened the rear door when the back of the taxi was still above water, and managed to escape from the taxi with the frightened passenger.
Police later confirmed that the navigator had given wrong directions and guided the driver into the river.
