A singer, made famous by a popular television talent show, was arrested in Beijing on Wednesday for taking drugs at his apartment, local authorities said.
According to Beijing Chaoyang District People's Procuratorate, Li Daimo had invited drug users to his temporary home in Sanlitun on several occasions since early March.
Li was detained for taking drugs with other people at his home on March 18. Urine samples of the suspects all tested positive for amphetamines. They admitted their illegal drug use, according to police.
While a suspect surnamed Fu was arrested for drug trafficking, three other drug users were subject to administrative punishment by police, the procuratorate said.
According to a video released by authorities, Li said he "felt deep regret" about his behavior.
"As a celebrity, I exerted a negative influence on the general public. I realize the mistake I made. I have not been forgiven by my parents and public," Li said. "I thought a lot in the detention house. I will cooperate with related organs and want a chance to start over."
Li, 25, comes from northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. He was in the first series of "The Voice of China", a singing competition that Zhejiang Satellite TV aired in July 2012.
