A health official said there aren't enough medical accidents in Shanghai to prove there is a collapsing relationship between healthcare workers and patients, especially considering the number of patients treated in the city each year, local media reported Thursday.
There are 6,000 to 7,000 medical accidents that occur each year in the city, said Shen Xiaochu, deputy of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning. Meanwhile, local hospitals treat 224 million outpatients and 3 million inpatients each year.
