Chinese swimming star Sun Yang has put a tough few months behind him and is now on track to take part in the National Championships. Sun was suspended from the national team for months after he feuded with his coach and was caught driving without a license.
Sun is now preparing here in Beijing for the National Championships...just two weeks away. After training with the national team for just one month, Sun has lost 11 kilograms and is back in fighting form. The 22-year-old had a little discomfort of late due to an ingrown toe-nail and that is now starting to pass as well. However, Sun's coach Zhu Zhigen has returned to Zhejiang due to health problems and in his absence, veteran Zhang Yadong has been assigned to help Sun.
During Sun's disputes and breakup with Zhu last year, Zhang was in charge of Sun's training, helping him sweep the 400, 800, and 1500 meter freestyle golds at the Barcelona World Championships. Sun won two gold medals at the London Olympics in the 400 and 1500 Freestyle.
