Accidents involving special equipment, such as elevators, boilers and cranes, were responsible for the deaths of 21 people and the injuries of another 12 in March, according to the country's top quality watchdog.
The country saw 18 such accidents in March, up by two, or 12.5 percent, compared with the same period last year, Chen Xitong, spokesman for the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, told a news conference on Tuesday.
The number of people who died from such accidents increased by four, or 23.5 percent, year-on-year and the number of injuries were up by 20 percent year-on-year.
