Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang (KMT) party will nominate three KMT mayors as vice chairmen as part of the efforts to speed up party reform.
KMT Chairman Ma Ying-jeou will nominate Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin, New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu and Taichung Mayor Jason Hu, Hau and Chu confirmed on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, three incumbent Vice Chairmen Lin Feng-cheng, Chan Chun-po and John Chiang have tendered their resignation, according to KMT sources.
It is believed that the nomination aims to tighten the link between the KMT central committee and localities under KMT mayors and county heads, helping the party's policies better represent public opinions and gleaning support for the upcoming seven-in-one election.
