Beijing's two flagship outdoor music festivals, Midi and Strawberry, which coincided with the May Day holidays, were criticized for having too much litter, the Beijing News reported.
Strawberry and Midi were held at Tongzhou Canal Park and Kuangbiao Paradise Ski Resort, respectively. Many audience members had complained that their festival experience was marred by strong winds that blew trash everywhere.
Zhang Fan, director of the Midi School of Music, said they had hired 50 staffers to help the resort clean up the litter. Sheng Lihui, organizer of the Strawberry Festival, said in the future they would place more trash cans on-site and have the singers encourage fans to take away their own trash.
