China's Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun has urged deployment of as many police officers as possible to key public venues at crucial times to deter crime.
Guo made the remarks during an inspection in central China's Hunan Province from May 6 to 9.
While inspecting Changsha Railway Station, business plazas and other crowded public places, Guo called on police departments at all levels to step up security and deter criminals.
"We should keep a high pressure on violent and terrorist activities, strictly implement anti-terrorist measures, dare to strike heavy blows... and firmly foil such plans before they become realities," Guo said.
