The People's Public Security University of China plans to enroll 80 students this year in a new department that will focus on counter terrorism, Beijing Youth Daily reported on Sunday.
It will be the first time that a higher educational institution in China has set up a counter terrorism major.
According to the university, students in this major will study the structure of terrorism organizations, counter terrorism intelligence, risk analysis related to terrorism activities and command skills in an anti-terrorism strike.
The university also plans to arrange training courses that simulate real-life terrorism events.
Terrorism attacks have become an increasing concern in China.
Over the past three months, attackers have launched three attacks in railway stations across China, a change of target from previously aiming at government symbols such as police stations, to targeting civilians.
