At least three people have died and 1.2 million people have been affected due to consistent heavy rains in five provinces. These provinces in South and Central China include Jiangxi, Hunan and Guangdong.
The Central meteorological administration says heavy rainstorms are expected to affect China's Eastern, Southern and Central regions including Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hunan, and Northeastern Jilin province on Tuesday after a short break on Monday.
The biggest rainstorm in six years in Shenzhen, paralysed road traffic. More than 100 sections of roads were water-logged and thousands of buses broke down. Engine breakdowns were common.
It took people more time than usual to cross the street. Shop owners did their best to fight the water by putting up sand bags. But in vain.
Nearly 200 flights were either delayed or cancelled on Sunday. Local construction sites suspended operations. In Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, mudslides disrupted several expressways. In Zhaoping county, villages in low lying areas have been worst-hit.
"The floods rushed into my home in the early morning. My door was destroyed and my family had to run out." A villager from Zhaoping County in Guangxi, said.
The flood also washed away poultry and fishes, destroyed farmland, and road infrastructure.
"My warehouse has been inundated. Furniture inside the warehouse worth 50,000 yuan has been destroyed." A villager from Zhaoping County in Guangxi, said.
Over 30,000 people have been affected in the county. More than 300 houses have been damaged and local authorities have been working to shift stranded people to other areas.
