More than 600 Chinese business people and tourists have crossed Vietnamese border into Cambodia to escape anti-China riots in Vietnam, Cambodian National Police spokesman Kirt Chantharith confirmed Thursday.
"On Wednesday alone, over 600 Chinese nationals entered Cambodia through Bavet international border checkpoint in Svay Rieng province," he told Xinhua. "The figures did not include those traveling to the country by air."
"They just stay in Cambodia for a while, when the situation in Vietnam eases, they may go back," he said.
Thousands of Vietnamese rioters launched anti-China violence and set fire to at least 15 Chinese-invested factories in Vietnam.
About 10 Chinese remained unaccounted for on Thursday after rioters attacked Chinese companies in Vietnam's central Ha Tinh Province, sources said.
