Afghan President Hamid Karzai left here on Sunday for Shanghai, China to attend a summit there, the presidential palace said in a statement.
"Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai left here Sunday to Shanghai city of the People's Republic of China to attend a summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia," the statement said.
During his four-day official visit, the president will also hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders and discuss the ways to enhance bilateral ties as well as the situation of the region, the statement added.
The president is accompanied by Foreign Minister Zarar Ahmad Osmani, Abdul Karim Khuram, chief of staff of the Afghan president 's office and the chief presidential spokesman Eimal Faizi, according to the statement.
