About 46 country leaders and the representatives of international organizations will attend the Fourth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping announced at a news briefing Sunday.
At least 11 heads of state, one government head and 10 representatives of international organizations will attend the summit, which will be held Tuesday and Wednesday in Shanghai. China will host CICA from 2014 until 2016.
Turkey, the last country to host the summit, will send a special representative from the president to attend.
The summit aims to enhance communication, provide solutions to different countries' problems and promote Asian security.
Peng Liyuan, the wife of the Chinese President Xi Jinping, will host events for other first ladies during the summit.
Cheng said first lady diplomacy is an important part of a country's foreign affairs.
