Beijing police caught the 38-year-old star Huang Haibo red-handed after receiving a tip off Thursday afternoon.
The once squeaky-clean Huang, dubbed the "the national good husband" by Chinese media for making a career playing the ideal nice guy on TV dramas, was detained the following day and confessed to soliciting prostitutes, according to the official Beijing police mircoblog.
Huang's agent posted an online apology on Saturday, where the agent expressed "gratitude for the public's supervision."
While the statement suggested that Huang had been framed, it also divulged that the long-time bachelor would occasionally "go cruising" in upscale clubs.
News of Huang's philandering raised eyebrows among Chinese Net users, mostly out of concern for Huang's professional reputation.
