Courts in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have handed down jail terms to 39 people for indulging in terror related activities. The longest jail term handed down has been for 15 years. The Supreme People's Court says six regional courts conducted the trials spread across 16 cases.
Those sentenced, were found guilty of spreading terrorist video and audio materials. They were also convicted of organizing, leading, and taking part in terrorist activities, inciting ethnic hatred, and making guns illegally. The Supreme People's Court said the sentences are based on facts and relevant laws.
