It will be illegal for pet owners to bury their deceased animals from October 1, the Beijing News reported.
A new regulation concerning pet burials stipulates that dead pets need to be sent to approved organizations to be safely disposed, rather than allowing owners to bury pets in public places. It usually costs hundreds yuan to bury or cremate an animal at Beijing's animal cemeteries or crematoriums.
Beijing currently deals with 39,200 tons of dead animals annually. The government is planning to build plants for animal cremation in 10 suburban districts and counties.
