A building fire in the southern part of downtown Beijing has been put out, and no casualties were reported, firefighters said.
Beijing's fire command center received the report of the fire in a four-story old residential building in Xicheng District at 6:10 pm Thursday.
Hundreds of firefighters with 61 fire engines extinguished the fire at about 8:53 pm.
The fire burned an area of 800 square meters on the fourth floor of the building. The economic losses are still being counted.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
