Plans for a beeper museum were recently announced in Guangzhou, Guangdong province that would house one aficionado's collection of more than 5,000 pagers.
"I was the first person to make this idea a reality and I wish all these precious memories will last in people's memory," beeper collector Tang Zhenliang told the Guangzhou Daily on Wednesday.
The Foshan native explained it took 17 years to collect the nearly 100 boxes of beepers, all of which come in a rainbow of colors and all shapes and sizes. Some are as big as fists, while others as small as a matchbox.
Tang explained he already submitted a proposal to the local tourist bureau for a 1,000-square meter museum in the city's Nanhai district, which would also be used as a scientific education base targeting college students.
