Students in central China's Henan province will have to undergo HIV/AIDS tests when entering college.
Local education authorities said on Sunday that all universities and post-secondary technical schools in the province will be required to conduct HIV/AIDS testing on students during their entrance medical examinations.
The test is part of Henan's prevention and control efforts. Health Bureau officials say a rapidly growing number of college students have recently been found to be infected with the immune system disease. The test aims to help students who test positive for HIV/AIDS understand and treat it at an early stage. Officials say all medical records will remain confidential.
