First-class hospital for Tiantongyuan

Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning announced that the first public triple-A hospital in Tiantongyuan, Changping district, will open this October, the Beijing Daily reported.

Triple-A is the highest rank of hospital in China's tiered medical system. Affiliated to Tsinghua University, the Tiantongyuan hospital will have 39 departments and 1,500 beds. The outpatient service is expected to handle around 3,000 patients daily.

The first batch of department directors have already started working on building departmental teams and running simulation drills. The facility will also support the work of nearby hospitals and establish channels for easing pressure on hospital beds in the surrounding area.
