Tsinghua University in Beijing recently repaired bicycles discarded on campus by former graduates and made the serviced bikes available to students and teachers for free, Jinghua Times reported on Tuesday.
As the school covers an area of 3.53 sq km and does not encourage students to drive cars on campus, almost every student uses a bicycle to get around the school. Many bicycles are left behind when students graduate from the college, with about 1,000 bikes left each year.
Recently the school organized volunteers to repair the discarded bicycles and 500 serviced bikes have been provided for students and teachers to use within the campus.
