Crayfish raised in "dead" water in Weishan county, Shandong province, have been discovered on sale in Beijing. Some consumers have reported that crayfish sold at restaurants on Guijie (also known as "Ghost Street"), Dongcheng district, at a discounted 1 yuan per crayfish, are not fresh, with their flesh a greenish hue, the Legal Mirror reported.

Although live crayfish are displayed at the entrance to many Guijie restaurants, consumers reported that no chefs emerged to pick them out and take the seafood to the kitchen for cooking. Restaurant staffers said that they didn't know which market their crayfish came from. Fresh crayfish sold at markets are mostly priced at over 50 yuan per kilogram.
