Official stresses enhancement of 10+3 media exchange, cooperation

Chinese government attaches high importance to the exchange and cooperation between ASEAN and three dialogue partner countries media -- China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), Chinese Minister for Information Office of the State Council Cai Mingzhao told the third ASEAN+3 Ministers Meeting Responsible for Information (AMRI+3) hosted by Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw Thursday.

Cai said cooperation in media plays an important part of the " 10+3" and is an important driving force in pushing forward regional cooperation as well.

Noting that China, ASEAN, Japan and ROK belong to the same Asian family, with interests entwined, destinies inseparable and stakes shared, Cai said China sticks to its policy of building friendships and partnerships with neighboring countries, as well as the policy of creating an amicable, secure and prosperous neighborhood.

China follows through the concept of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness and strives to develop itself in order to better benefit the neighboring countries, he said, adding that it is China's long-term strategic choice to build amity and friendship with ASEAN and as such will persistently work together with ASEAN to safeguard regional peace and stability.

He pointed out the exchange and cooperation of media between ASEAN members, China, Japan and ROK has witnessed and recorded the progression of regional relations, and has played an important role in promoting regional friendly cooperation and enhancing the friendship between peoples. That the 10+3 has scored remarkable success so far, is closely related with the concerted efforts of all involved governments and their people and cannot do without the wisdom and contributions from media officials and employees.

Cai also proposed a three-point suggestions on promotion of exchange and cooperation in the 10+3 media field which are deepening the pragmatic cooperation in the media field, strengthening the exchange and cooperation in the emerging media field and actively creating conditions for the exchange and cooperation among media outlets.

He hoped that friends from the "10+3" media field will meet, interact and cooperate more, and make joint efforts to bridge the friendship among people in the region and inject positive energy to regional prosperity.

Prior to the AMRI+3 meeting, chaired by Myanmar Information Minister U Aung Kyi, the 12th AMRI meeting was held earlier on the day.
