Man sips pesticide to win back ex

A man in Panzhihua, Sichuan province proved his undying love for his ex-wife by drinking pesticide in an attempt to win her back on June 11.

The man surnamed Li, who is in his 30s, is recovering at Miyi County People's Hospital after police discovered him lying on the ground and foaming at the mouth.

Li was divorced from his ex-wife surnamed Liu about two weeks ago, said police.

Liu alerted local police after she received a few photos from Li on her WeChat account showing her distressed ex drinking a bottle of toxic pesticide by a river.

Police traced Li's location based on clues in the photos, and enrolled nearby residents in the search.

Li was spotted an hour later slumped on the ground by the river. The heartbroken Li told police he drank the pesticide in order to save his marriage.

Liu was unavailable for comment.
