Sexagenarian logs 60,000 km by bike

A senior rural resident of Henan province has visited more than 30 Chinese provinces and eight countries in Asia and Europe by bike, Beijing Times reported.

Xu Yukun, 68, wanted to go sightseeing by bicycle many years ago but was preoccupied with bringing up four offspring.

After his children formed their own families, Xu started his journey in March 2007. He has traveled more than 60,000 kilometers in more than 600 Chinese cities and eight Asian and European countries.

Xu is in Beijing to apply for a visa to France, so he can cycle the European Union.

He told Beijing Times he would overcome all difficulties to continue his journey by bike.
