Henan education authorities on Tuesday said they sent a work team to Kaifeng on the same day China Central Television (CCTV) exposed organized cheating in the national college entrance examinations, or gaokao. Police have also been informed.
The CCTV report said that group cheating in the gaokao was found in several testing sites in Henan. Some college students from Wuhan, Hubei Province, were organized to take the exam for others.
The Henan provincial admissions office said it will conduct strict identity checks on all examinees. The province found 165 violators, with 127 of them taking the test for others.
The Ministry of Education has also sent a work team to both Henan and Hubei to supervise the investigation.
College students involved in cheating will be expelled, while high school students who hired others to take the test will have the scores canceled.
