Vietnamese women married to Chinese men have become major drug traffickers along China-Vietnam border in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the Beijing Times quoted local police as saying Thursday.
Huang Jinqing, a Vietnamese woman who married a Chinese man in Guangxi, formed a drug trafficking gang with two local men and helped contact heroin dealers in Vietnam. The gang smuggled drugs into Guangxi from Vietnam and sold them in Guangdong province. The police busted the gang and seized 15.2 kilograms of heroin on May 25.
According to police, many women from Vietnam have taken advantage of their familiarity with Vietnam to contact the drug suppliers or carry drugs to China themselves. In recent years, the police have annually tracked down five or six such cases.
