Beijing police officially launched the first phase of their anti-terrorism combat training - One minute disposal - on June 26, aiming to shorten the response time in case of a terror attack to one minute.
The training is divided into four parts, including the use of firearms, response to individual extreme violence, and clearup of violent terrorist incidents, as well as "one minute disposal", according to Municipal Public Security Bureau.
Fourteen popular gathering spots such as Wangfujing, Xidan, and Beijing Railway Station have been earmarked by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security for the "one-minute disposal" standard in case of emergency.
All 280 civil police officers who are dispatched to those key areas have to take part in the five- day closed door training. In groups of 40, officers wear body armor and helmets and are trained with pistols and riot guns.
