The recent registering of China's Grand Canal as a UNESCO World Heritage Site has called attention to the need for better preservation of sites located along the ancient riverway's Beijing section, the Beijing Daily reported.
Right now only Wanning Bridge in Xicheng district and Dongbuya Bridge in Dongcheng district along the Beijing section of the riverway are included in the World Heritage Site, but the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage said more sites will be registered and enjoy a better preservation.
