Tan Hong, a former senior officer in the guard bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, was expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for serious discipline and law violations, said the top discipline inspection agency here Wednesday.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) found after an investigation that Tan was guilty of taking advantage of his post and status to seek benefits for others, extorting and receiving huge bribes.
The CCDI said Tan's conduct has seriously violated the CPC discipline and the acceptance of bribes is a suspected crime.
The CCDI has decided to hand over Tan's case to judicial organs for further management, it added.
