A senior official in Shanxi province was removed from his post on July 7 after being probed by the country's top anti-graft watchdog.
Du Shanxue, vice-governor of Shanxi province, was dismissed by the lawmakers of the provincial people's congress.
Du was also stripped of his position as a deputy to the provincial people's congress, Shanxi Daily reported on July 8.
On June 19, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China announced on its website that Du was under investigation.
Du, 58, was in charge of work related to reform and development, transportation, infrastructure, environmental protection and investment.
At least 15 senior officials at and above the provincial level have been investigated on corrupt allegations this year. Last year, 17 such officials were investigated.
