A 13-year-old in Nanjing, Jiangsu province who was so fed up with his father snooping through his online chat room records that he called the cops, Modern Express reported on Monday.
The 13-year-old surnamed Zhang sought to press charges for invasion of privacy against his father on Friday, who he claimed had used his computer to read through past conversations and delete contacts from his QQ account, an instant messaging platform.
"Those are my friends from school," Zhang said. "We make jokes with each other, but most of the time we discuss homework."
Zhang complained to police that his father rarely lets him surf the Internet or go to parties. He also often warns to stay away from "bad kids" at school, said the teen.
In an act of revenge, Zhang called local police and insisted his dad was in violation of his right to privacy.
After police mediation, Zhang understood his father's concerns and forgave him.
Zhang's father also admitted his actions were inappropriate and promised not to sneak peeks at Zhang's QQ account.
