A terrorist fleeing from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to Shenzhen, Guangdong province, was arrested recently by police and the informant in the case has been given a cash reward, Southern Metropolis Daily reported on Thursday.
According to Shenzhen police, the terrorist, who was wanted by Xinjiang police, fled to the city in late June. Police said they received a tip about the terrorist's whereabouts from a resident surnamed Zheng. The terrorist was arrested a short time later.
Police issued a cash reward to the informant on July 9. This is the first time that police have issued a cash reward since the city's public security bureau announced on June 16 that it would offer cash rewards to residents who provide tips on terrorism-related activities. According to the notice, the rewards will range from 2,000 ($323) to 500,000 yuan, and those who provide most important tips will receive more than 500,000 yuan.
