There was a 49 percent increase in the number of reported cases of infectious diarrhea between May and June, stated the Beijing Center for Diseases Control and Prevention, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.
The highest number of reported health cases are hand-foot-mouth disease, infectious diarrhea and mumps. The center has warned that more attention should be paid to food safety standards. Citizens should only dine at restaurants who have licenses issued by the health inspection authorities, eat fully boiled seafood and meat, and wash fruit and vegetables thoroughly with running water.
