32 criminals sentenced to jail for terrorist activities

A mass sentencing of criminals involved in terrorist activities has been held in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The 32 criminals sentenced were involved in 11 separate crimes. Three of them were sentenced to life imprisonment, the rest were sentenced to between four and 15 years in jail. The criminals used cellphones and the Internet to save, download, and spread videos about extreme religions and violent terrorism.

They hoped to convince others to take part in bombings, and other forms of terrorist activities.
