A farm worker surnamed Wang who fought off an attacker in the May terrorist stabbings at the Guangzhou Railway Station was recently awarded 40,000 yuan ($6,504) by his hometown government in Gansu province, Lanzhou Morning Post reported.
The award given to Wang, 46, is known as the Good Samaritan consolation. Officials from his hometown of Dingxi visited him at his residence in a rural village on July 11.
Wang became a hero and well-known figure after media reports of his heroism. Wang was awarded with another 4,000 yuan by Guangdong province.
